Got this in email today. Plan to try it Wednesday. If anyone else bakes it, please report back. 5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE 4 tablespoons flour 4 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons cocoa 1 egg 3 tablespoons milk 3 tablespoons oil 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional) A small splash of vanilla extract 1 large coffee mug Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world ? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

I got that from my son before Christmas. It is really good. My youngest daughter doesn't like cake, but she likes this one.
Of course I would try it, it's chocolate!

This sounds like a lot of fun to make with your kids. In my house, however, it would take just as much time to make individual cake servings as it would to break out a box mix and make a cake in the oven.
I can see, however, how this would be a great recipe for someone living by themselves.
They need to post a five minute frosting recipe to go along with the cake recipe!!!

Yes, the fact that it's chocolate makes it tempting. Did you try it with or without the choco chips? I think it is definitely better with.

That's what I thought, too, Karen. On Wednesday, my nephew (4) spent part of the day with me and we tried it out. I added the egg and oil, and, with some guidance here and there, he did the rest. We had a great time! That evening, my SIL called to ask for the recipe. We did use the chocolate chips and put a blob of cool whip on the finished product - served warm.

I made the recipe with my son...it came out good and we had a lot of fun!!!! My advice is to use a big coffee mug though. Mine turned into the leaning tower of pizza! Thanks, BETH!!!!!

Suggestion - be prepared to serve and eat this right away. It's not bad if it's right out of the microwave with cool whip on top. Otherwise, it soon develops that strange texture that the little desserts in frozen entrees have - sort of like a dishwashing sponge. Nice flavor. Better with chocolate chips. Conclusion: Don't worry, Chris, you won't find it very tempting. But, anyone with little ones can become an instant hero with a few ingredients, a mug, a microwave and some patience.
