Hear he's trying to cut some deal to get transferred back to Aruba by saying he will tell where Natalie Holloway is..............guess he doesn't like his current accommodations.

I read that too Sadie, but I doubt that will happen. This case has gotten to be a big deal in Peru. The public is on the case.
If he's able to bribe his way out, or purchase a ticket to Aruba (where he most likely bought freedom previously), there would be a major public backlash in Peru.

it's conceivable that if the punk had picked some peasant girl to murder, that might happen. this girl's family if fairly prominent though, and the clown is as good as dead, thankfully

Van Der Sloot's Mother Finally has something to say........... ****************************************************** "Joran is sick in his head, but he wanted no help," Anita van der Slot said, breaking her silence on the case in an interview published Saturday in the Dutch daily newspaper De Telegraaf (The Telegraph). Anita van der Sloot said she won't visit her 22-year-old son in his Peruvian prison cell, where he is awaiting trial in the May 30 killing of Stephany Flores in a Lima hotel room. His cell is next to that of a reputed Colombian hit man. He is also still the chief suspect in the 2005 disappearance and presumed death in Aruba of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway, though he has never been charged. "If he did this, he must bear the consequences. I can not embrace him," Anita van der Sloot said. She claims that her son was in recent years developed severe mental problems. " His departure to Peru was a flight to escape being committed to a clinic." A few weeks ago Anita van der Sloot, said, she found a note from her son: "I'm gone, do not worry." The next time she saw him was on TV, handcuffed by the Peruvian police after his arrest. For years, she said, she believed Joran when he protested his innocence. "I felt he had nothing to do with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in 2005. He had left her on the beach. I still believe that. " But, she also says: " Stephany, he may have killed." www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37802494/ns/world_news-americas/*********************************** Wow.......she won't go see him........and she thinks he did kill this one.........the article goes on to say that he hasn't gotten any calls from anybody........I'm guessing maybe Dad was the only one that liked him? ? What does this say about the whole family structure? Are there any other kids in the family.....I don't guess I have ever heard?

I really admire his mother for having the strength to back off. He's already ruined his life, Natalie's life, and Stephany's life.
I'm sure her maternal instincts are urging her to rush to his side. But there would be no positive result from that, only emotional and financial loss. Better to cut the cord now.
Good for her.

I too admire how some mothers, fathers and family members will disown a predator! Blood is thicker than water, but evil is evil!

Sadie asked, "So.....was it the father that enabling this kid?"
What we know about the father is that he did rush to his son's side in the Natalie Holloway incident. He hired a prominent NYC attorney for him.
In one of his subsequent interviews Joran also said his father helped him bury the body. Of course, Joran told so many conflicting stories it's hard to know which to believe.
We also know that the Aruba prosecutors backed off the case and ignored new evidence including that condemning video that was virtually a confession. And we know that the father was an official in the Aruba Court system. And we know that bribery is rampant in almost every caribbean and Latin American government. His father had high level contacts inside Aruba's justice system. Was there payola?? You decide.

Makes me wonder if the rest of the family always knew what the kid was........and the father just always protected him.
Does make me wonder how involved the father might have been with the Holloway case. I hate to think a father would go as far as to hide a body for his son......but it sure seems it might have gone that far........definitely kept his son from having to face the consequences.....no doubt about that.
Don't remember the mother ever uttering a peep before........strange family dynamics going on.

The mother sounds like the clear headed one to me. She was quoted as saying Joran is sick in the head and she's not going to visit him in prison because she 'just can't embrace him.'
Family ties are very close for most of us. Offering support for your own children is basic to parenting.
But what if your kid is found to be a serial rapist who murders his victims (and there is no doubt about his guilt)? Do you: 1. Go into denial, buy his line of BS, and proclaim that he is innocent, or 2. Offer some support in the form of legal and financial assistance but keep him at arms length while the legal processes unfold. In other words, consider him innocent until proven guilty by law but, at the same time, acknowledging the overwhelming evidence; or 3. Cut the cord and distance yourself from him offering no support.
I think each parent would have a difficult time with decisions like that. But, in the case of Joran, I think option 3 is in order.

Saw a story somewhere on the net....where the Vegas oddsmakers aren't even taking bets on how long he will stay alive in that prison..........might be a good thing that Mom doesn't seem to attached.

Haven't we gone thru this stuff before........he did it....he didn't.....depended on who was interviewing him..........you know.........what is the deal with this idiot.

Well Sadie, the bad news is you can bribe your way out of most anything in Peru. The good news is that his mother appears to have cut him off from any family funds. The really good news is that the dead girl's father has more money than Joran and he knows how the system works in Peru.
They're keeping him isolated in a separate cell now alongside a Columbian drug hit man. If either one of those two would be released to the general population their life expectancy would be short.
I don't think the Peruvian justice system or prison system administrators want any bad publicity so they'll probably keep him isolated for a year or two.
Taking back his confession means little because they have a ton of evidence including videos of traffic in and out of the hotel room where the girl was murdered.

Ok......the idiot has a new attorney that is suing the other attorney to try and get his confession thrown out. Didn't they already rule on that? Who is paying for this? The family has ditched him, right?

news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978701689 QUOTE: Natalee Holloway Jawbone possibly found near Phoenix Hotel on Aruba Beach November 17, 2010 12:31 AM EST Recent reports have speculated that part of the body of murdered high school senior Natalie Holloway has been found in the form of a jawbone. The potential Natalee Holloway bone was discovered near the Phoenix Hotel located on an Aruba Beach. Could this be the evidence needed to finally solve this case, giving Beth Holloway peace of mind? Beth Holloway, whose daughter Natalee disappeared five years ago in Aruba, speaks at the launch of the Natalee Holloway Resource Center (NHRC), a non-profit resource center created to assist the families of missing persons founded by Holloway and the National Museum of Crime & Punishment, in Washington June 8, 2010. Joran Van der Sloot, linked to the mysterious disappearance of Natalee in Aruba, has confessed to the murder of a female student in Peru, police said on Tuesday. Van der Sloot was arrested twice in the Holloway case, which was much publicized in the United States, but he was never charged due to insufficient evidence. REUTERS/Joshua Roberts (UNITED STATES - Tags: CRIME LAW SOCIETY) The disappearance of Natalee Holloway has remained a mystery for many and a nightmare without closure for her friends and family. The latest reports via multiple news sites including CBS News, say that the jawbone was found by tourists in a site which is nearby one of the locations suspect Joran van der Sloot had mentioned in confessions he made for Holloway's murder. Joran later took back his confessions. One of those stories Joran told was that Natalee fell from a balcony to her death by accident, so he disposed of her body in a swamp. Another story was that she somehow accidentally died while they were kissing. While the age of this particular bone has not been disclosed, what is known is that it has intact teeth. Now it will be up to Dutch forensic experts to run tests on the bone to determine if it may in fact be that of Natalee Holloway. It's also unknown at this time just how long the tests will take. Apparently, it will first need to be determined if that jaw bone is in fact a human's. While the mystery of Natalee Holloway may be closer to getting solved, its prime suspect, Joran van der Sloot is in jail right now facing charges for the murder of Stephany Flores in Peru. Most likely Natalee Holloways mother and other close friends and family want to see this particular mystery resolved though, even if they have some peace of mind that the major suspect is behind bars.

The jawbone + tooth isn't hers, Anna. New article today says Holloway's dental records ruled out a match with no DNA testing necessary.

Gosh....you almost hoped that it was just for closure......but then again....you never would want anyone to be dead..........I just can't imagine always looking.......always wondering.......catching a glimpse of someone in a crowd and thinking it might be your loved one........and that going on for years and years.........what torture......
