I'll have to come to Jumbo's defense. While he is always wrong on politics he is always right on crime and the DP. Spelling prowess is not the measure of the man.

He wasn't right on the claim that because there have been some exonerations this conclusively proves that no-one will ever get wrongfully executed. Is there some overwhelming need for the DP? If there is then fine, otherwise, as has been said, why use irreversible punishment methods.

If there is any shadow of possible innocence the DP should be a "no go". For the worst the worst i support the DP! Not for revenge or even punishment, but to send a deterring message to potential heinous murderers at large-don't do it! Punishment is reserved for people, who may be rehabilitated.

More unacceptable to me is the possibility of incorrigible killers being allowed to return to society. If not DP, there must be life in high security with no possibility of parole.

I fully agree with Beth here. The greater risk occurs when we release killers. We know that criminals have a tendency to repeat their crimes. Look at Joran Van der Sloot who murdered Natalie Holloway and now another girl in Peru. Happens all the time with killers. But never happens again when the killer is dead.
