I'm voting for the only nominee to have bought me a drink this month.

Jim, I haven't voted yet and I LOVE Scotch whiskey! (Yes, I know I'm spelling it the Irish way but my Dad's Irish so that's my excuse!)
I recommend The Antiquary and Laphroiag.
Two grand for Whyte and Mackay? That's daylight robbery.
As Riot will confirm, though, most of the best Scotches never leave Scotland!
PS - if you throw in ice cream as well as the whiskey I'm even MORE open to persuasion!

What kind of beer might that have been? Either the brand was rare and precious or the quantity was staggering.

Either the brand was rare and precious or the quantity was staggering. you would probably consider the quantity staggering. i drank a twelve pack or better every day for thirty years. that don't count when i went to a bar. hell, when i had the back surgery, i was in the hospital for six days, and got two beers for lunch and two for dinner, doctor's orders, because he didn't want me to just quit when i had the surgery
