LINKPlastic bags in hand, John and Ann Till trawled the streets near their home gathering cans, bottles and containers to put in the recycling centre at their local supermarket.
They worked out that for every four recycled items they posted into the machine, they would receive a reward point which could be converted into air miles.
So, night after night, they spent hours patiently posting the items into the recycling bank, clocking up the miles for their honeymoon.
They eventually gathered enough points to earn 36,000 miles, which they used to fly back from their trip to the US on business class.
Mr Till, 31, a railways communications manager, said they came up with the idea after spotting the recycling machine while buying petrol. You have to admire the tenacity of some people in making soemthing out of nothing But would you put so much effeort into such a mission?

I would do it with the sole purpose of reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.
Ans I would expect no material reward at all.

It's easy enough to get cans and bottles out of our recycling skips, especially if they have't been emptied for some time. So all this couple needed to do was drive round , fill a bootful then shove the lot into another machine that gives clubcard points for doing so; (something that doesn't seem to exist round here- as Jean says, most of us do it for no reward)
