This bill has passed the House of Representatives without one single republican "Aye". Egged on by RW radio mouthpiece Rush Limbaugh, the republicans seem determined to dig a trench between themselves and the democratic majority, whether it serves them well in the long run or not. Now, states' governors from their own party are showing their displeasure. Many states are strapped for funds and anxious for the economic package to pass and be signed into law, asap. Even the hapless Governor Palin has made a trip to D.C. to meet with some of the ringleaders of the opposition to underscore the positive aspects it contains for Alaska alone. Good article, here: www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28949195/

We got a shty $50 bonus from corporate at Christmas time; corporate employees and exempt employees at our warehouse got a 10% bonus of their salary......actions speak louder than words and we were told what crap we are yet they will take the rewards of our work to enrich themselves.
We can't complain as that is a sure way out the door and there are no jobs so one sucks it up and tries to forget the screwing we are getting everyday and no vaseline or kisses to ease the pain.

Christmas bonus? What is that? My company doesn't even give out Christmas bonuses. I'd be thrilled to get even $50.

that is what is wrong with the way capitalism is practiced in the u.s. it rewards the shiftless imbeciles sitting on their dead azzes in the office and penalizes the real people who are bringing in revenue to the company.

We are in what they call a "blackout" period; from the end of October until the middle of February, NO ONE is supposed to be taking time off as the business needs dictate everyone be available to answer phones and get the revenue coming into the company. We are allowed to be off on Christmas Day but guess what? ALL the fuking leadership took Christmas Eve day off without telling the rest of us or the two supervisors they left in the dark. You could feel the pain in the office all day and the lunch room looked like shit with the Christmas tree off and no warmth was found anywhere for the season. I can truly say part of my enthusiam for the company died that day along with many other people; we do our job because we need a paycheck but for the most part, no one overextends themselves anymore and that is sad. I truly believe there is a hell for people who want that pie and will not share with others

But I sometimes feel bad because I have always given 110% but now I just don't even care as I have found the last eight years that companies don't give a diddle about you; just what you can do for their bottom line.
Fifty sounds good for a bonus but sucks in the light the others got a 10% bonus from their yearly salary which amounts to five grand for some and we got a measly $50?

Chris, too many people work their butts off and get nothing and too many people who contribute nothing get massive rewards.
It isn't fair and it happens both ways. My next door neighbours live on welfare and their landlord is forever paying large sums of money for their benefit. He's having a brand new kitchen put in for them when there wasn't anything wrong with the old one!
On the other hand people who work hard can't get these handouts and it makes me sick.
Hard work and contributions to the economy ought to be rewarded but they just aren't.
Instead corporate crooks and welfare scroungers get the perks!

The eco recovery bill is moving through the senate this week. Right now, they are working on a rewording for the "buy American" amendment to be sure this provision does not bump heads with free trade agreements already in place. There's probably nothing they'd like better than to pass a stipulation that Am. iron and steel and manufactured goods be used exclusively in infrastructure projects, so I think they'll keep as much of it as they can - and at the same time satisfy EU we're dependable on our promises. Good luck!

Good luck! and of course, that's the major source of the problem. the free trade stupidity is what got the ball rolling. nafta is the most unamerican legislation ever passed. it's way past time the situation was rectified, although it won't truly be. EVERY american corporation that has a call center or any other part of its business that should be in america, and isn't, shouldn't be allowed to conduct ANY business in america

Good luck! oh stuff the EU..its a corrupt and undemorcratic organisation that cant even audit done after 14yrs the europeans have come up with some ignorant ideas throughout history, but, bar none, the lunatical idea of the european union is the most abjectly stupid of all time. europe exists as a continent on a map, comprised of a dozen totally separate and distinct nations. the european common market was a good idea, but the imbecillic concept of the union simply has NO right to exist, period

There is a refinery over in Benecia or Martinez that the workers are considering going on strike when their contract is due for renewal.
Can I hear a "wtf are these people thinking?"
California has a 9.3% unemployment rate and these jerks want to challenge the company they work for to give them more when everyone is getting less?
Oh well, they can walk and plenty of people will be in line to take those jobs for less and be happy to have it.
Unions were good for workers at one time, but greed and stupidity took over and common sense flew out the door with their demands.

THe phone company that does the prison collect calls has a call center in South America and you can't understand the people, the phone echos, and a supervisor is never available.
I found the American based call center and use that one rather than deal with the out of country one anymore and am alot happier.

Half the time you end up talking to a call centre in Delhi or Hong Kong and it's very frustrating when you can't understand them and they can't understand you. It's infuriating!

Our telephone information service is out of India. If they don't find the listing in the immediate city, they try to give out "near-by" area listings. Trouble is, their "near-bys" are several hundred miles off the mark. The other day, the service person "helping" me BELCHED in my ear!
