I am undecided as I can see all sides of the argument.
So, should we have a right to die when we want?

I would advise that it should be someone you know you can really trust. As long as there can be no claim of personal gain or evidence of an ulterior motive, a mercy killing should be treated as such, a mercy. Ray Gosling hit the news this week after he admitted that he helped his lover into the next world. The police don't know who, where or when and Gosling won't say.

When I was a young girl my father owned agricultural animals - cows, sheep, dogs . . . you get the picture.
And I was raised to believe that, with animals, there was such a thing as putting them out of their misery, and only a bastard would leave an animal alive to suffer.
I have made a solemn promise to my Mum not to let her suffer. I hope that when the time comes I will be strong and free enough to help her die. I really ,really hope that all I have to do is turn a plug off somewhere, and dread having to take the Ray Goslin cushion-on-face option.
And I hope that if I have to, I'll be strong and brave enough.

P.s. My Dad, by way of contrast, believes in longevity per se., and has asked us all to let him live for as long as possible irregardless of his condition.

P.S.2. My family do discuss our deaths a lot. What can I say? We're Presbyterian.

I am undecided as I can see all sides of the argument. So, should we have a right to die when we want? Should people have the right to go into a private suicide clinic and partake of their services, ultimately yes. Should the tax payers have to pay for such services to be freely available, no I don't think so (unless they democratically decide that they want to). Various checks and balances can be put in place to make sure that the person isn't being pressured into it or is sufficiently mentally competent to know what they are doing, but ultimately we should be in charge of our own lives. It is not for others to decide that you have to live if you do not wish to continue it.
