OK . . . 'fess up. What's your guilty pleasure and how good/terrible does it make you feel. Mine is Wendy's chicken club sandwich, which I have at least once a week. The chicken is tender with a crunchy crust - the bacon is deadly, I know, but passable to the taste - the slice of tomato is usually nice but the lettuce is often wilted. To my (small) credit, I ask them to leave off the mayo. I suspect they are spiking it with something addictive. Every several days, even though I could take a less congested route, I find myself cruising into the Wendy's drive through with a healthy appetite. Your turn.

My weakness is ice cream. I'm absolutely addicted to it and could cheerfully eat it every day (of course I don't but I'd love to.)
I eat it far too often as it is and it's just about my favourite comfort food!
Nothing else quite hits the spot like that does!
Mmm... just writing this is giving me cravings - naughty girl!

Chocolate. It has to be the ultimate fast food - you can buy it almost anywhere, carry it almost anywhere, eat it almost anywhere - and when I do, it doesn't touch the sides.
I don't eat in in between meals; often it IS the meal!

Beth when you say fast food I'm assuming you mean food purchased at one of the drive-through restaurant chains like MacDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King, Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, etc. I try not to patronize those places and usually avoid them. My predisposition is very negative. I think of them as serving up high calorie, low quality, greasy, and unappetizing fare.
However, I was hungry and in a hurry about a week ago and did try a Sirloin Burger at Jack in the Box. It was surprisingly good so maybe some of them have upgraded their menus.

Yes das, that's what I was talking about. It's fairly easy to confuse fast food with junk food. Both are somewhat evil and very seductive at times. Another I've liked for a long time is Frisch's Filet of Fish sandwich . . . also their Swiss Miss. Now there was a time when Frisch's was not considered FF because they have a more varied menu and larger more friendly dining areas. However, since they put in the drive through window abt 10 yrs ago, they ARE fast food. lol My husband will not eat at Arbie's. He says their "roast beef" used to taste like meat, but now it doesn't quite get there. Don't know whether it's his taste buds or, in fact, the ingredients. I don't eat at Arbie's.

Probably the only fast food or junk food that i can't resist is cheese flavored popcorn, which is available all over the US, but the German market hasn't discovered it. So i'm safe there! Cashew and Pistazio nuts are OK, if you eat less than 20 per serving..I usually don't buy them, unless i feel disciplined.
Occaisonally i'll buy deep fried fish or shrimps without the chips or the 100% beef hamburgers from MacDonalds-never from Burger King-fat and grisle-YUK! I only buy that stuff when i'm short of time and away from home so that's hardly an addiction.
I drink a lot of coffee and sugar free coca cola however. Those are maybe junk beverages though.

I wish I did like to drink coffee, especially now that it's supposed to have healthy benefits. It leaves a bad aftertaste I don't want to deal with, though sometimes I'll buy a little container of one of the GM international coffees (instant), usually the french vanilla. I do like tea - mostly Constant Comment (orange and spice taste) or one of the white teas. The only chips I like are corn chips . . . but I like them a lot. ;D

I ate once at Arbie's last time I was in America and the food was disgusting.
Your husband's dead right, Beth!

By the way, Beth, when we say chips we mean what you'd call French fries and what we call crisps are what you'd call chips.
Two nations divided by a common language!

I seldom eat garbage. This morning I had ground up pumpkinseeds and flaxseeds with blueberries and nonfat yogurt for breakfast followed by a cup of green tea. Later in the day I had some lightly steamed vegetables with steamed Salmon (With a lime squeezed over it…no Salt) I then had some blueberries again. In the evening after my workout and walk I ate three bananas and one apple with some ground up sunflower seeds.
However, I do intend to gorge myself on chocolate, pumpkin pie and pecan pie when Thanksgiving and Christmas roll around later this year.

I used to love pumpkin pie, until i got paranoid about sugar and calories! I only see pumpkin pie here when i can get on a US military base.

the Chalupa at Taco Bell is my weakness as I rarely eat hamburgers at any fast food joints as the meat is really terrible tasting if you remove the condiments
Outback isn't fast food but their chicken salad is to die for!!!!

From what I've read (and perhaps I shouldn't have done) diet coke can do nasty things to you if you drink too much....happily for me, I have to stay away from fizzy drinks anyway so don't have to choose between the two evils! I wouldn 't regard nuts as junk food, unless perhaps they are heavily salted.

Chicken Wings grilled with a spicy hot barbecue sauce have become a sensation in the USA. There is even a chain of fast food restaurants named Buffalo Wild Wings that has been very successful. They fry chicken wings and coat them with very hot and spicy sauce. They are typically served with a small bowl of blue cheese salad dressing to dip them in. Here is a recipe should you want to prepare them at home: www.reluctantgourmet.com/chicken_wings.htm

Thank you for that! Yes, make them at home, then you can (if you feel like I do about factory farming) buy wings from chickens that haven't been cruelly confined.
Indeed, what about a fast food outlet which sources happy hens, and puts Colonel Sanders to shame?
Anyway, I've kept the recipe and may give it a go, if I can find a substitute for canola oil. Any ideas - or is it one of those things (like eggplants and zuccini) that goes by a different name in the UK?

Skylark - Canola oil is just a tasteless vegetable oil. You can use any vegetable oil suitable for frying such as peanut oil, corn oil, soy bean oil, etc.

I just cook or microwave eggs when i think i'm getting a vitamin or mineral deficiency! Always sunny side up too! I never understood these omelette lovers! Hitler liked omelettes too!-that phony vegetarian! ;D

A Spanish Tortilla is truly Fast Food in Spain. It is nothing like a Mexican tortilla. A Spanish Tortilla is really an omelette with slices of potato worked in. You slice and serve wedges like a pie or cake. You'll find Spanish tortillas everywhere in Spain. They're served day and night, hot or cold, as a breakfast item or at a Tapas bar with a glass of wine. They're easy to make and worth a try. Here is a recipe. www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-specials/tortilla-espanola-spanish-omelette-recipe/index.html
