Does anyone else see the figure changing directions back and forth? or am I just brain-warped in some way? When I first entered the link, the direction appeared clock-wise, but as I watched - not trying to "focus" particularly - the direction changed and then changed back again. Now, I must add that I have one eye significantly weaker than the other and am not wearing glasses this a.m.. Would that impact on my perception? (thinking yes)

I have seen this before and I'm now pretty sure that she does begin by circuling clockwise, then changes.

I can make her change directions when I want her to. This is weird.

I can only see her turning around clockwise...but I did just wake up and I'm still dog-tired.

She seems to be turning both clockwise and anti-clockwise but it's probably one of those optical illusions and she isn't moving at all!

I only saw the dancer moving clockwise for a long time! Then i briefly saw her moving counter-clockwise and got a real wierd feeling! Now she seems to move clockwise all the time again!

Just clockwise. The rest of you are just trying to upset me with your talk of counter clockwise. I have been trying to change direction and absolutely cannot. Oh no! I just saw the change for 2 rotations! And again. Ok, I don't buy this. This is just a gif that changes, right?

I think it is trubble. Focus only on the upper body - the right arm, face and breasts, and it is quite easy to tell exactly when she changes.

She definitely changes direction. It's a trick to make us feel weird.

In some cases of extreme epilepsy the connection between the right brain and the left brain is surgically severed to stop the sttacks! These people will only consciously see the girl dancing in one direction depending upon which brain hemisphere dominates! What would really be funny is getting 12 sworn witnesses and ask them to testify under oath which way the dancer is dancing!

Especially if they've had a few drinks first!

OK...after staring at this thing for awhile (yes, my life is so pathetic) I SAW her change direction. It is absolutely nothing that "I did"...it just happened.

Yes, the dancer changes direction. I believe it is the right side of the brain that is creative.

I've googled this and it seems there are a lot of people that actually believe the right v left brain thing and that they are really taking part in an experiment.
After studying this quite a bit, and frankly I DO have better things to do, it's pretty obvious to me that this is a trick. Focus on the girl's head and you'll see her change. Sometimes on my computer screen it seems to slightly hesitate before changing.
I haven't worked out how long she stays turning to the right as opposed turning to the left - it seems pretty random to me so far - but she seems to go for quite a long period before changing and then for several short periods.

If you look at the non-moving images than it becomes apparent that our decision as to which of the dancer's arms and legs belong to her right side and which to the left side will determine our impression of clockwise or counter-clockwise movement! As we clearly see from picture we can only guess which arm is her right arm and which is her left arm! This pic was composed by someone who sees the counterclockwise motion!

However, now I'm confused. Having said above that it's a trick, I've been googling further and have come up with this: That should settle it I'd imagine. Seems I was wrong.

We tend to "fill in the blanks" so to speak as the original picture vs the picture we may think we see shows!

She started out anti-clockwise, but then seemed to be turning clockwise...but I am a "sinstral", I believe that my brain operates on a different set of rules from "dexters" (or is that just a myth?).
