They make fools of themselves and when someone points it out, they are forced to hide their mistake and censor the normal people! Why is it acceptable for a gun freak to attack people, but any response is to be removed!!!! Gun freaks hate free speech!!!!!!!

Anna, I find this thread very, very strange. it reads to me as if members are not allowed to disagree with out using terms of affection or flowery graphics. What is your problem with RV's post? Jim obviously mis-spoke in regard to normal - either that or RV is equating normal with average - however one chooses to see it. There is no "language", no name calling, no personal attack . . . just disagreement. This thread really does appear extreme evidence of thread police, kind of like a jail for suspect posts.

Why is it acceptable for a gun freak to attack people, but any response is to be removed!!!! Gun freaks hate free speech!!!!!!! Dearest RV! The fact that i never deleted any of your posts, so that no one could read them, attests to the fact that i support free speech! The post i moved made no arguments concerning the gun control debate and was thus off topic as well as abusive. Yes i could have moved more of Jumbo's and your posts here! My time and energy is limited though! Remember too the tolerance for non-productive arguing here is limited. If anything crosses the line it goes to the V section!

That's a bit harsh; but I agree that it's very difficult to debate gun control with a person who insists that anyone who disagrees with him is ill-educated or stupid.

I think that several people have been to blame by going over the top in the way they express themselves.
I don't expect everyone to pussyfoot around if they disagree but continually calling other posters stupid or nutjobs or whatever is crossing the line and I respectfully ask the offenders to STOP doing it.
Otherwise I'm seriously thinking about closing down the whole board because I'm fed up with having to mod a kindergarten instead of a message board!

I know exactly what you mean Lin, that is why I closed my boards down.

Thank you, Alan. It's almost always people with no experience of modding a board that think we're all horrible tyrants.
Mind you, even being a mod is less of a pain in the arse than being a board owner!

That stick together attidude is why Thomas Hamilton was allowed to own guns, none of the other gun freaks would report him! Dearest RV; One of Jumbo's remarks on that thread was deleted completely by another mod and yes i moved one of your posts, but didn't delete on abusive word! I would have sent these 2 following posts to the V section, if i was around when they went up! Anyone owning or branishing a gun deserved to take a bullet in my book.
Out of their cold dead hands!!!!! You bet, every time in my book. I am quite happy to see gun freaks take a bullet, given they support mass murder, better safe than sorry in my book, but you are only wiping out a socially backward person, so no big deal. I'm shocked! death wishes for non-criminals! To date i have not deleted a single word you ever posted. However the above does cross the line big time!
I pmed Jumbo and ask him to cool it too! You don't seem to respond to PMs anymore though! Maybe it's because i'm a "gun freak" in your eyes. I don't own a gun so there isn't much i can do, if someone breaks into my appartment and wishes to murder me for the "feeling" as happened to a nice lady and family friend-now murder victim, who i knew!
German law makes the right to own a firearm a very long and expensive process.
It's seems like most of the mods tend to agree with you when you present the non-abusive side of your views on gun control. If you feel though you're being treated unfairly you're free to express that here. Please cool off though and rethink the stuff you're posting! I really didn't expect this of you and am very disappointed!

I'm optimistic that the few posters, who got out of line, know that they slipped and can get back to being civil and factual in the discussions and debates here! We've seen much better posting from them previously! Maybe the gloomy winter weather is affecting people too! I think we have the worst behind us! I appeal especially to a few posters not to disappoint us again!

I stand by both these statements. People who own guns illegally ARE criminals! Not only that, there is no doubt that they are criminals because they are caught red handed. If you are brandishing a gun illegally, then it is an open and shut case! You support the death penalty and you support strong action against those who would kill, so what is the problem? Carrying a gun = bullet in forehead! Simple, effective and saves paperwork and political correctness and it would act as a deterent, so we all win.

Dearest RV. You're really starting to scare me! In your posts that i quoted in my 2:48 AM post you make no reference to "illegal". Some of my relatives in the US own guns and took me out "skeet shooting"..I'm not a good shot and didn't hit one skeet!
Owning a gun demands individual responsibility and a knowledge of safety. My relatives all had a special gun cabinet that was locked..The bullets were locked seperately from the guns. I agree that gun owners, who are irresponsible with their firearms and leave their guns unsecured, especially when children are in the house should lose their right to gun ownership!
I firmly believe that developing individual responsibility and allowing gun ownership to responsible, non-criminal citizens is preferable over a bigger government with more control!

I firmly believe that developing individual responsibility and allowing gun ownership to responsible, non-criminal citizens is preferable over a bigger government with more control! obviously, if there are small children around, a gun should NEVER be within reach. as i said, by the time a kid is seven, he should be trained in the use and care of a gun. that is what prevents accidents. nonetheless, a gun that is locked up is useless. a good burglar can be inside your house in thirty seconds, and there is no way you could ever get a gun from a gun case in time. i always had mine on the nightstand next to the bed where i had a clear shot at the door. when we moved here, there is even less likelihood of an occasion to use it, so it is not out in the open, but i could still have it in my hand within the thirty seconds from anywhere in the house. it's just a precaution however. when i was in white bluff, there were no burglaries, and there are less than none out here. the ONLY reason for that is because EVERYONE is armed, and have no qualms about using it. the trash stay ten miles away in town where far fewer people are armed

I was brought up at a time and in a place where gun ownership was both legal and normal.
I grew up in the countryside and I learned to handle guns at an early age.
Simply because I enjoyed shooting did not induce within me a desire to go out and start shooting other people.
That is the case with the overwhelming majority of gun owners.
It is always only the few idiots who should not have been let near them who abuse them.
Because of them responsible citizens are punished while criminals continue to brandish and misuse guns with impunity.
