If you're not familiar, here is a short video that explains the grills
I bought one because I was tired of the hassles with charcoal grills (flame ups and clean ups and tricky to control temperatures). To my delight, these are much easier to use and cleanup is much easier too. The results have been outstanding.
What I like most is the fact that they are effective for everything from smoking to hot grilling. I've used mine for smoked salmon, slow roasted pulled pork shoulder, thick grilled beef steaks, whole roasted chicken, and a spatchcocked turkey. Everything comes out really great. The chicken and turkey breasts remain moist. The slow indirect heat and the wood smoke are a great combination.
Last evening I cooked one of the best meals we've enjoyed outside a 3 star Michelin restaurant. I was fortunate to obtain a full side of a very fresh and glistening salmon (boneless and skinless). Added a bit of seasoning and then roasted on the Traeger at 350F (175C) atop cedar wood planks for half an hour. Garnished with capers, lemon slices, fresh dill, and chopped red onion. Truly spectacular. The cedar planks for cooking are a great investment that I found online at Amazon.com

I know we heat with it and it's so clean and one bag last 24 hours! It would probably be safer than gas...

We have a combo grill that we like. We can use charcoal or gas if we want. I picked up a flat griddle so that we don't have to clean the tented parts etc. I picked up cedar planks too and make my own smoker when I want it.
Can't wait for warmer weather and to spend time on the deck or patio. We had two days of freezing rain and Wednesday is a chance of snow/rain mix. End of the week the temps should be getting warmer.

We had both gas and charcoal for years and finally just switched to Gas.. Life is so much easier and the flavor is just as good

That's interesting. We've always used charcoal grills - maybe we'll consider changing!

I never thought I would switch but after a few years of coming home from a long day of work and having to wait for charcoal to heat we decided to try gas. Turn it on and it's ready to cook

I'm amazed at how long a few pellets can last.
It's a shame though that the actual pellet stove (as in fireplace version) are so expensive to buy.
