I swallowed hard and forked up the $$$ to purchase one of the new iPhone X models.
The face recognition technology is much more secure than fingerprint technology, works reliably and instantly in any lighting conditions. Once all the app and web developers have added it to their apps or sites, you'll pretty much be able to forget about passwords. So very cool.
All I do to unlock my phone is to look at it. Instantly it unlocks. All I do to log into my bank account is look at the log in page on the bank's website and I'm logged in automatically and instantly. Such a huge improvement over trying to remember passwords for various sites. It feels like having doors opened for you automatically.
Wireless charging is nice. Just drop it onto the charger's surface on my night stand and bedtime and it is fully charged in the morning.
Siri integration with the Apple watch is very cool too. Just talk to your watch and your iPhone does things for you. I use it constantly for routine daily tasks like, "Hey Siri, remind me to take out the trash when I arrive home today," or "Hey Siri, set a timer for 45 minutes.," or "Hey Siri, next time I'm at a supermarket, remind me to buy razor blades." Siri knows where you are because of GPS.
The new iPhone is super speedy compared to other models. The screen (picture) quality is nothing short of sensational. Even the built in speakers sound good which is hard to believe given the small size. The camera takes amazing quality photos automatically.

Sounds good to me, no doubt they will become all the rage before too long which always seems to be the case. Apparently we like to mimic.!!!

Yes, iPhones do cost more but they also hold their value a whole lot more.
I bought my previous iPhone for $850 a little over a year ago (A 7 plus). Sold it on eBay for $575. Android phones don't come close on resale value.

My sister has an iphone. She doesn't like it and said she would never buy another one. Different people have different needs and get different experiences I guess.

I’ve had all sorts of phones and by far my favourite is the iPhone love the one I have that I am now into my third year with it , it’s better for just about everything apps and internet etc
My worry about face recognition is what to stop someone abducting you putting your phone in front of your face to access your device and banking accounts ?

We seldom use our cell phones. Mostly when on the road.

That's an interesting observation Gibby. I suppose your abductor could accomplish the same thing with your fingerprint. If you're abducted at gunpoint he'll probably get whatever he wants including your bank account whether you have an iPhone or not. iPhone settings allow you to turn face or fingerprint recognition on or off for each application or websites such as your bank. If you're super paranoid about security, you can turn on two factor security which requires both a password and a code sent to your other devices when you try to log in.
