Google Glass App Raising Eyebrows With all the technology that’s out there today, you have probably wondered just who might be watching you. The answer to that question might not be what you’re expecting. We all know there are surveillance cameras that track your movements on a daily basis. That’s how police identified the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing last year. What may surprise you is that you can be identified if someone simply looks at you. It might be someone at a bar or a ballgame. New apps like Nametag on Google Glass would allow a total stranger to pull up your information just by looking your way. Jules Polonetsky of the Future of Privacy Forum told KTRH thinks it might be time for a little regulation. “We are starting to see apps that would let anyone use this technology in the street. That’s starting to raise some concerns,” Polonetsky said. “Clearly abusive type activity needs to be taken out of the mix. Google and some of the other companies that are potentially partners are trying to keep this technology at bay until we can figure out the rules.” Your private information is seemingly more at risk every day. And it might not be safe with the government, either. Even though we know about hacks into companies like Target, it turns out 40% of all government security breaches go undetected. That’s what a recent report just showed. Cyber security expert Bill Morgan says privacy is a thing of the past. “There is nothing private anymore. There hasn’t been anything private since the dawn of electronic communication,” Morgan told KTRH. And he says giving up your privacy is as simple as agreeing to the terms of use when you go on a website. www.ktrh.com/articles/houston-news-121300/google-glass-app-raising-eyebrows-12049509/?cmp=oboffsite#ixzz2t7LAd1OY
