I read that Northamptonshire Race Equality Council contacted police after a comment made during a parliamentary debate last month. Why?
MP Philip Hollobone said he faced a police investigation after he dubbed the burka "the religious equivalent of going around with a paper bag over your head with two holes for the eyes". It seems the tax-funded body wanted to see him prosecuted for inciting religious hatred.
Hollobone's comments sparking the complaint came on 2 February during a debate about immigration. He said: "How ridiculous would the House of Commons be if we were all to wear burkas? How would Mr Speaker be able to identify which member to call next? The voters might well prefer it, but it is the religious equivalent of going around with a paper bag over your head with two holes for the eyes. In my view, it is offensive to want to cut yourself off from face-to-face contact with, or recognition by, other members of the human race. We should certainly look at ways to tackle that issue."
My god, that really incites religious hatred doesn't it! FFS, haven't these people anything better to do? Even the CPS had the good sense to bin it.
The MP for Kettering said: "I refused to be silenced by threats of prosecution and I am going to speak out on what is a perfectly legitimate topic for debate. "There will be those who agree and those who disagree, and that is fine. What we cannot have in this country are MPs being threatened when they speak out on contentious issues.
Religion is a constant pain in the ass.

If even Zanu-Labour booted her out it shows just how rabid she is. Did you notice her strict code of dress

obviously, those who are so abjectly stupid that they object to the truth shouldn't be allowed in public, or anywhere else. your idea is a good one, but it should apply to both genders. there are equally worthless males

Very interesting progressive Imam on radio the other day.
He made the point that the burqa etc has nothing to do with Islam but has everything to do with the national culture of Eastern countries. When asked how could we stop the West being afraid of Islam he said that we need to have an Islamic religion relevant to the west and stop adopting eastern cultural practises under the guise of them being Islamic when they are not. he went on to say that the religion adapts to fit the country not the country adapts to suit the religion.
What a very sensible man!

The very idea that religion, beliefs based on stories retold thousands of years ago, is progressive........... is a bit of an oxymoron, no? Funny how they all have god on their side, isn't it. Islam has men and women queueing up to die for Allah, Christianity has bring and buy sales. And the competition goes on.....
