Interesting chart.
I expected NYC to have a higher rate for some reason. But I think the city has been cleaned up quite a bit in recent years. Back in the '80's it was the pits.

Yes, these things do seem to go in cycles. But the capital is always likely to have a significantly higher murder rate than other parts of the country.
And overwhelmingly it's drug-related murders that are behind this.
This week the third brother from one family was murdered.
Sad but it's still pretty safe for the ordinary person compared with some places.
And frankly you've always got more chance against a knife than you have against a gun.

Maybe so, but I would rather be killed by a bullet than by a knife. It is quick and less painful than being stabbed repeatedly by a knife before you die.
