There may be a bit more to the story than meets the eye, for example how did they know he was gay? I mean I don't think they knew him beforehand so how would they know, you can't normally tell is someone on the tube is gay or not. Bit more here. So there may be a bit more too it than that maybe they had been making a bit of nuisance of themselves or something lilke that? I mean if you are keeping yourself to yourself you are generally OK but if you are being loud and fooling around perhaps it might annoy some people? They said that they had some glitter on their clothing for whatever reason. It seems you have to watch what you wear on your body if you are a man. I wonder if they beat up lesbians? Depends on how they are behaving. I expect maybe they were being loud obnoxious and chucking glitter all the place and being a PITA to other people on the train. But of course they won't say that to the police. We have not heard much about the case since, this guy was some sort of LGBT activist. Had they been quietly minding their own business I expect nothing would have happened I expect he is "bigging up" the gay bit, gay can also mean happy and in high spirits, speaking of spirits I bet he was drunk too! I found a bit more. www.pinknews.co.uk/2017/12/06/two-16-year-olds-arrested-after-attack-on-gay-teen-who-was-forced-to-apologise-for-being-gay/Note the original story omits the bit in bold ie that they gave him back the phone and also that a "fight ensued" I would suggest that bit is the gay man friends attacking them. Anyhow as they were on the way to a party I expect they were already drunk. I mean he is part of some LGBT group the type that tend to be professional complainers and also the type who like to parade their sexuality in public. As an aside I expect the woman who attack them was a lesbian ie more butch than the boys perhaps? Anyhow not sure what has happened the alledged attackers were release on bail. However it seems the incident was over when one of his friends attacked his "attackers" What we have is a one-sided account though. I'd like to hear the other side.

The truth is I think it is more six of one and half a dozen of the other, his friend assaulted them it seems, and indeed they may have been the ones to blame for it all, as I said we have heard one side of the story

I expect it is more the case that the lesbians go around beating up people as indeed appears to be the case in this story! But as I say I expect it is more they case they were beaten up for being pain in the a** than being gay. (no pun intended).

If the majority of people are being beaten up for various reasons, how do you know for sure that the boy was beaten up for being gay? Because they were shouting at him for being gay whether he as or not is neither here nor there the fact is they assumed he was gay and that’s why they beat him up I said earlier that true gays take on the mannerisms of the gender that they think they are. It's certainly a shame that they are beaten up for just being who they are. How cruel some people are.!!! Thanks for the clarification.

Why should you think that they were drunk and rowdy and throwing glitter around? Normal people are going to fancy dress parties all the time. The party goers mightn't have been drunk, but the two who accosted them could have been?

Maybe *they* were arrested, easy to see in fancy dress. I dunno I would rather an independent version of events and I have not seen one of them. And you do not know if someone is gay or not so it seems they were advertising their sexuality in some way, possibly by a public display of affection, ie sex in public, I dunno i was not there.

I know what groups of people in high spirits and possibly drunk can be like often a nuisance to those around them. I expect they are having a bit of a "party" on the tube? A lot of people preload with alcohol before going out as it is cheaper.

When there isn't much evidence, I tend to give the victims the benefit of the doubt. No one should go around accosting other people no matter what.!!! Not in my book.

I feel no matter if the couple is straight or gay, they need to act respectable in public. BUT with that being said, one's choice of sexuality should not be held against them. There are a LOT worse things out there than one's choice of sexuality! It's much easier to judge another than find fault in one's self! Violence is WRONG...NO MATTER the situation! Anytime someone bring bodily/mental harm to another it is a crime and should not be over looked!

We know violence is wrong but if you are making a nuisance of yourself you will attract criticism. Oh and by they way they were attacked by them. Biased story.

Why should I be biased? WE have heard one side of the story. Think they were unbiased, the guy was president of some gay society "president of the LGBT society at Ravensbourne design and digital media college in Greenwich". I suspect they engaged in public sexual activity, they much have been, or advertising their sexuality in some way. There is no need to do that. If they are adverting their sexuality they are inviting criticism of it. Had they been peacefully and unobtrusively travelling to their destination nobody would have known they were gay, clearly that was not these case. Maybe he was wearing one of these?
