We all have different views on religion. I am a Christian; my husband is an agnostic; some members are atheists; one is an Eckist; for all I know there may be other religious beliefs on here too.
But I really think we need to respect other people's deeply held faith.
I know on another forum a member got into trouble for her sincere Christian beliefs.
To me, that's just wrong.
Remember - God is love.

I will state homosexuality is not only a perversion but a sin...if this is not allowed, let me know in advance.

Hi Chefmate, In ECKANKAR, the religion of Light and Sound the two aspects of God, the Holy Spirit. Remember? "Let there be Light and there was Light" It was the Voice of God (Holy Spirit) that uttered these words, so that is who or what, we in ECKANKAR follow, and listen to. Anyway, we don't see anything as sin, Earth is a schoolroom for ignorant people. As we learn, we wend our way back to the Godhead through spiritual enlightenment. This is an ongoing process, until such time as we have learned all that we need to know, then we no longer have to reincarnate on this physical plane again, but remain in the true spiritual realms of God.

I realize you might not recognize me from gates of babylon, but, not to be rude, but what part of "I don't want to hear about your false religion do you not understand?" I didn't want to hear it on Gates of Babylon and certainly not here.

Hi Chefmate, how could I not recognize you. Are you frightened that I might brainwash you?. If you were a true Christian you would know that it is the Holy Spirit that leads, it seems you are still living in the past, and reading material that was at a time when everyone was seeing through a glass darkly, you have evidently ceased to listen and pay heed to ' seek and ye shall find.' what a shame.
I myself am interested to know about all religions. I read and had all the religions on my phone but evidently stashed them in the wrong place and they were deleted. That was away back when I was on Facebook and didn't understand anything to do with the Internet etc. I'm still ignorant but know a lot more now than I did then. I have had help from a lot of people on different forums for which I am very grateful.

Why do you denigrate what other people believe? Who is one person to impose their belief system upon another? I think that the object is to become as good of a person as you can be. Always try to do the right thing.

Hi Chefmate, what I posted has nothing to do with my religion, all that I said is in the Bible. Which goes to prove that you don't know your Bible very well. I feel so sorry for you.

First of all, I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to reply to Chefmate. I would have told her that as far as I was concerned she was welcome to post her thoughts.
I've known her for many years - around twelve in total - and I know she is a kind, caring, loving person.
She is full of sincerity, passion and kindness.
For what it's worth I'm a Christian but I'm not a fundamentalist one.
She is and that's her right.
Just as it's your right, Scottish Lassie, to hold and express your beliefs.
I disagree with both of you as it happens but that's never stopped me letting you express them.
Nor will it.

What is the origin?

I've been on over a hundred message boards in my time. I first met her and about a dozen or so other members here on a site back in about 2003. One of the members invited me to join her sadly long defunct site through which I met about another thirty or so people. One thing led to another and the next thing I knew I'd become a message board junkie.
Eventually either the forums were closed or I stopped going. (Mainly the first).
When I founded this board the bulk of my members came from Ilene's former boards Murder Chat and its replacement Crime Debate. Most of the rest came from Chris' former site The Mortal Orchard.
I loved the Orchard and Murder Chat but they both closed. Ilene's board was sabotaged by a German woman who is the most evil individual I have ever encountered online; Chris, happily, closed his because he fell in love and got married.
Others have come from various other forums like Beth and Fret's board, Deyana's, Gibby's, BLC's and Lady Di's. A couple came via Chel's forum which is now defunct.
Quite a few I've got no idea how they found their way to us.
But anyway I can only speak for myself and that's how I started. I'm sure it's different for everyone.

[/b] that is one of the problems with religion it promotes hatred of people different from the majority of people and makes them feel second class and worthless, a sin indeed ! narrow minded bigots!

Yes that was a nasty woman Big Lin . If anyone advocated the execution of one of her death row pen pals she would do everything possible to become that person's worst nightmare. I did just that on one of her threads at prodp and she somehow got one of my emails and sent me a virus infected email. She followed me to another forum and sensed my closeness to the Dru Sjodin murder case and "threatened" to penpal her murderer. I told her she could penpal with Satan himself for all I cared. She disappeared out of my life then. A creature like that is one reason why I don't talk much about my family because she's always looking for a target, if she's trolling you.

I did not see my church listed, but I have been a member of the Christian Church (Church of Christ) since Charlie and I met.

The problem is the fanaticism. I've known plenty of intolerant, authoritarian and repressive atheists. It's the intolerance and fanaticism that's the problem rather than the belief system.
