I believe it's a little more complicated than that Scottish Lassie . Napoleon was a serious threat to the monarchies of Western Europe. England was preparing for war and likely intended to go to war against Napoleon also. Napoleon represented to the people a more moderate version of the French revolution which overthrew King Louis XVI, without the reign of terror radicals like Robespierre. The monarchists financed by the same banker cartel that was financing Napoleon saw war as inevitable. Napoleon had different images that he presented at different phases of his career. He began life as an advocate of Corsican independence and then became a supporter of the French Revolution. Nor is it fair to give Robespierre the bad press he's had from his political opponents. The Reign of Terror began under the Girondins, not the Jacobins. Robespierre actually opposed the death penalty. And do you know why he was deposed? For trying to END the Reign of Terror. Yes, he temporised because of the extreme times but fundamentally Robespierre was a liberal and a democrat trying to be a voice for moderation in turbulent times. Napoleon believed in nothing more than his own inflated ego. All that, may indeed be true Biglin, but Napoleon Boneparte did want to rule the world, just as Adolf Hitler also did. And it seems secret societies are in the running as well. Power hungry men for sure!!!
