We hear so many stories about child actors and actresses whose lives were shattered after their film careers. I imagine playing the role of the victim of demonic possession would be very dangerous to a child's psyche.
The Director of the movie "The Exorcist" William Friedkin discusses how this film was made and how he tried to protect the 12 year old actress Linda Blair from emotional damage. This film was almost never made because it seemed almost impossible to find a pre teen actress or even an older actress who could play the role of the possessed girl Regan without psychological damage. The audio interview with Mr. Friedkin tells the story. www.npr.org/player/v2/mediaPlayer.html?action=1&t=1&islist=false&id=241919527&m=242177357
For those who can't listen to the audio here's the link. www.npr.org/2013/10/31/241919527/four-decades-on-the-exorcist-still-a-head-turner

Still one of the scariest and most realistically acted out movies out there. I can just imagine that Linda Blair would have had a hard time getting out of role and back to real life after that. She did an amazing job.
