I do although I don't always recognise when karma comes back to me

I try never to wish ill upon someone else, no matter how vile they or their actions might be, because I figure I'll end up with what I created coming back to me. And the power of thought is bigger and more affecting than many people realize (so I dont want to be the creator of ill feeling even, never mind its effects.
-if any of that makes sense!

I definitely believe that what goes around comes around! Karma! If you do some negative act it will eventally come back to you in some form. Not to mention the karmic burden you carry until an issue is resolved. I suppose the Western term for this is a burden of the conscience.

I haven't voted because I don't know. I don't believe that people always suffer for their wrongdoing, but there seems to be more to karma than that.

I don't believe in it on any level. I've seen too many nice people suffering and too many disgusting people living comfortable and happy lives to believe it.
And as I don't believe in reincarnation I don't believe bad guys will come back next time round as a turnip or something like that.
We have a moral duty to do what's right but we're human and we often don't do that.
But the whole idea that karma works and what goes around comes around is just totally contradicted by every experience I've had of life and by any kind of study of history.
Karma's just wishful thinking.

If karma was real the world would be a better place.
What kind of 'bad karma' did the people at the Boston Marathon have to be treated like that?
Or the 11 year old girl who got raped by an 18 year old psycho?
Or the people in West with the horrific explosion at the chemical plant?
Or the three kids - oldest about 3 years old - murdered by their mum before she committed suicide?
I could go on but you can see where I'm coming from.
And how come that evil people get to die in luxury in their beds when good people die young and in pain?
To me karma is just a cop-out. I honestly think it's an excuse used by people to try and prettify the horrors of the world.
I've looked death in the face twice recently; we all have to do that at some stage in our lives but sometimes it comes too soon.

What point to suffer in this or a future life for a 'crime' I committed in a former time if I have no recollection of the sin, hurt, damage or pain I may have caused... What use me being sorry, if I cannot tell you what I am sorry for?
I cannot atone for sins I cannot recollect and so I cannot subscribe to the idea of karma.

I think it depends on what you expect from karma.
Maybe my outlook is too simplistic........I try to make sure I smile at a person who especially seems down.......or hold the door open for a person....it doesn't matter whether they do it in return.......but there are many times I have been having a bad day and a stranger's smile.....lifted my mood and helped me to shake it off.....or a day my hands were full and someone opened the door for me...........I just like to think that little acts of goodness will come back to you......
It doesn't mean I believe nothing bad will ever happen to me.........but maybe someone I didn't expect will be a shoulder to cry on....when I really needed one......or in some way....make my load lighter........
Same thing if I am mad or angry and I snap at some person that had nothing to do with it........and they go on to snap at someone else...........one day I will be the one on the other end of that nasty attitude..

Karma as I understand it has less to do with individuals but more to do with a sort of collective power...as I said, I don't fully understand it all. So on reflection, my vote should also be "no", because I my lack of understanding leaves me unconvinced.
I keep meaning to study Buddhism but I'm really rather too lazy.

In Christianity ( bad ) karma corresponds to sin. The Bible also says that the sun shines on the evil person as well, but the sin ( karma ) still has to be paid for.

Yeah, but I don't believe in original sin either. We are responsible for our own sins that we as individuals commit and our ancestors or whatever have nothing to do with it.
Kungfuwitch, I absolutely agree with every word you've said!
Here on this board karma means exalting or smiting a person for their post so I'm going to give you a karma exalt!

I cannot atone for sins I cannot recollect and so I cannot subscribe to the idea of karma. Some people have been convicted for serious crimes that they claim, perhaps truthfully, that they can't remember.
