Last week, jurors heard tearful comments from Travis Alexander's brother and sister as they described how his killing has torn their lives apart. Monday begins a new phase of the trial as defense attorneys present witnesses to testify on Arias' behalf in hopes of saving her life. Judge Sherry Stephens instructed jurors they could consider a handful of factors when deciding what sentence to impose, including Arias' lack of a prior criminal record and assertions that she was a good friend, had an abusive childhood and is a talented artist. In opening statements, prosecutor Juan Martinez told the panel none of those factors should cause the jury to even consider a sentence other than death, given the brutal nature of the killing. Defense attorney Kirk Nurmi explained to jurors that Arias herself would testify this week. "When you understand who Ms. Arias is, you will understand that life is the appropriate sentence," Nurmi said. Arias, 32, acknowledged killing Alexander at his suburban Phoenix home on June 4, 2008. She initially denied any involvement and later blamed the attack on masked intruders. Two years after her arrest, Arias said she killed Alexander in self-defense. The victim suffered nearly 30 knife wounds, had his throat slit from ear to ear and was shot in the forehead. Prosecutors say the attack was fueled by jealous rage after Alexander wanted to end his affair with Arias and prepared to take a trip to Mexico with another woman. Jurors convicted Arias on May 8 of first-degree murder, with all 12 unanimously agreeing it was premeditated, after about 15 hours of deliberations over four days. (Click on link for rest of story)

Rusty.....you are too funny!!!
This has been such a bizarre case..........the people that support Jodi Arias are just sick also. There is a support site for her where they sell what she has been doodling during the court case........and now they are selling "Survivor" shirts.......they also ask you to donate to her jail account........they do not believe there is a shred of evidence convicting her....completely believe she was defending herself........and do nothing but scream for the death of Juan Martinez the prosecutor, call the victim's family members and the victim every name in the book and more........they are really disturbing how out of touch with reality they are.....
I think the sex tapes and this somewhat attractive woman and the way the media has peddled this story led to the frenzy.......just like with the Amanda Knox story.......sex sells papers.........

The Ridgeway case is pretty bizarre.......the way he stood up in court and just listed everything he had done.....like reciting a grocery list........just makes you look around at some of the people you cross paths with in life.....and what hides behind their masks?

Victim impact statements were read by Travis Alexander's brother and sister. The jury will decide on whether Jodi Arias gets life in prison or death!

They're going to vote on whether to kill someone? and...because killing is wrong, correct?
What a horrible hypocrisy we live in.

Jodi Arias in her final statement to the jury, which will decide between the death penalty and life in prison, retracted her earlier statements that she wanted to get the death penalty and asked the jury to give her life in prison.

She held up a tshirt she said she designed with the word "survivor" on it....saying proceeds will go to battered women......so another dig at her victim......she said she would teach inmates to read, spanish and start a recycling program...........also....she grows her hair out and donates it to locks of love............
Immediately after court she demanded makeup and started interviews with several news agencies...........but yet....she said in her appeal to the jury that she had really hoped to not air any of the bad stuff and just go peacefully away..........she is truly psychotic and hopefully will be put away for a long time........

That's what I don't understand......she makes all sorts of diva demands......then conducts interviews like she is a star........she is selling drawings she has doodled during court....most are rip offs of cosmetic ads......contacts a friend to send out tweets..........she is a convicted murderer. She needs to go away!!
Meanwhile....the jury isn't allowed to know how she is acting....or the crap she is doing.....while in front of them she said all she wanted was to go away quietly.......she makes me sick.....just go away back into your cell...and SHUT UP!

The penalty phase of the Arias trial was declared a mistrial since the 12 jurors were split between the death penalty and life in prison! A new penalty phase of the trial has been scheduled for June!
I wish all interviews with heinous murderers would be deleted from public view. Interviews with virtually every serial killer in the US can be viewed on YouTube! The murderer wins and evil triumphs if he/she becomes the name and face to be remembered and the victim becomes secondary or forgotten!
