HA! Great description of American Football.
However, despite their armor and padding, injuries are the biggest problem.
The Tour de France is on TV every morning live here and that has me captivated at the moment. It is such a great contest. Contador and Andy Schleck have separated themselves from the pack. It's looking like the two of them will fight it out all the way to Paris. The other favorites, including Lance Armstrong, have fallen.
American Football will grab my attention from September to January but there is only one game a week. My team, the Houston Texans, looks to be good this year and could compete in the post season for the first time.
But my favorite sport by far is NBA Basketball. That won't get going until October. The big question in Houston is whether Yao Ming's foot surgery will be successful and enable him to play a full season.
After those three sports there is nothing much to interest me. Car racing, golf, hunting, horse racing, soccer, hockey, badminton, and table tennis are all about the same (zero interest). However, I am a big fan of women's beach volleyball :-)

At least it's a MAN'S game - not like that sport for pansies where a bunch of overweight batty boys dress up in mediaeval armour because they're scared they might get hurt by a tackle! Dearest Lin! I like to tease US football fans a bit too! Nevertheless US football is a winter sport and if you survive the tackles the cold will kill you, if you're dressed like Rugby players are! Do Rugby players play in snow? I'm a bit naive about Rugby, but i can't imagine that Rugby players use their heads as battering rams like NFL/AFL linebackers do! Even macho headbangers know that concussions are dangerous and thus helmuts are neccesary!

As any fule no, women do not play sports - we get hysterical ovaries and our wombs climb up our bodies and strangle our brains if undertake any physical activity.
