We've had two days of snow in London but fortunately it hasn't settled. Other parts of the country have been far worse hit.
I think we're going to have a very cold winter.

It runs in cycles. We have had a couple of light winters and last year we had snow early on and then not so much.

First snowfall in the past 20 years. Melted off the ground by 10:00AM but stuck to roofs and tree leaves until noon. Brrrrr.

Totally agree, Das; I wish this bloody global warming WOULD show up!
We've been colder in Britain than in Moscow and Alaska!

This may sound off, but 'true north' is always moving and I wonder if the change is just due to the slight shift. We've had 8 inches and looking for 6 more today.
I think its cyclic. As a kid we would get a lot, then we had a few years where just a little. We just had a couple of years where we got by with little. I'm hoping we don't get the 'lot' this year. I remember back in the late 70's there was a huge amount of snow. It fluctuates.

We had our January thaw yesterday. Temps were in the 50's and all our show melted due to rain. Today we have snow and the ground is once again covered with a few inches of snow and its back in the 20's.
