oh that guy, well you know - and some wont agree with my take on religion, but - Christianity is a mythology, and one that has some ugly instructions in it, several of them. No one can prove it real, but archaeology shows the Bible is wrong all over the place about history. Anyway.. if you have to "believe" in it, because it can only be THOUGHT to be real, since it can never be proven to be - then it's not real, or to our purposes, it's
not real enough, to use as a reason to mistreat people in ways that frankly, I'm quite glad have been made illegal.
It kind of sucks that we have to make laws to FORCE people not to mistreat each other, but if that's what we have to do, I'm all for it.
The damage being ostracized can do to someone can be quite real and affecting, and for a long time. So in fact, yea, I agree the guy should be sued for it too.
It's fine for people to have their religious beliefs (not really, it's awful in many ways actually) but... if they're breaking the law, or being malicious or injurious to others based on it, that's another thing.
And he's even discriminating based on the part of the book (the old testament) that the religious guy himself would tell you is NOT FOLLOWED anymore / superseded by the NEW testament's instruction. And that tells us he's not following his own religious terms, in order to have an EXCUSE to hate openly and harm people by ostracizing them.
Seriously, do i have to go get that piece on all the awful nonsense which has all been rejected that the old testament says to do? There's a whole lot of truly awful instructions in there that have all been universally rejected as outdated and too awful to follow. BUT FOR THIS ONE THING, people feel free to point to a book with THAT reputation, as their excuse for hateful mistreatment of others?
People who believe in an imaginary stone age religion
are the ONLY people left in the world who dont know that homosexuality, bisexuality, gender issues, INTERSEX (physical variations, genitally) are all things that happen genetically. AND IF THEY BELIEVE GOD MADE US, WELL THEN
GOD MADE THAT!!
Really, I'm trying to say people who are still willing to hate on gays are having to jump over an awful lot of walls of illogic and hypocrisy and ignorance in order to be bigots enough to do it!
So WHEN as a society do we draw the line and go "hey, you know what, you CANT excuse bad behavior WITH IMAGINARY THINGS"? (Their religion is imaginary! They HAVE to imagine it's real, and then rationalize that, in order to BELIEVE in it.)
So - and I'll even go further - when do we just go hey you know what, believing in imaginary things is how we define insanity, ISNT IT?
except for religion, right?
Well, as Joseph Campbell told us, ALL religions have a time and then wane and are replaced. And ALL religions are then considered to have been merely "mythology" after their time is done. And only the one that's CURRENTLY being considered real is excepted from being classified as mythology, BUT IT WILL BE CLASSIFIED AS SUCH, AFTER IT RUNS ITS COURSE AND IS REPLACED, as history shows us ALWAYS HAPPENS.
There is absolutely nothing absolute about a given religion being real. There is only those who volunteer to SAY that one is real...for a time.
So when do we as humankind admit this universally, and seek - rather than a character play with man made rules as morals to scare people into following - a new code of just ..spiritual principles that are actually real, to follow..you know, like that you're intuitive, and its useful.
USEFUL THINGS about living is what a book should teach.
NOT "hate thy fellow man", "go make war on them and take their stuff", "burn me a cow"!!!!!!!!
And if someone is hating on gays because of what that bible says,
they are excusing their hateful behavior based on THAT kind of instruction!
Go war on your neighbor.
Hate and kill people for what they were born as.
Burn me a cow, to appease me!
Be scared of Me or I'll (burn you) torture you horribly FOREVER, without end (because I'm a loving god, of course)SO FEAR ME!
You know..I try to always put out love as my response to things,
but honestly, religion
and the republican fascism
are on my list of turn offs, lets just say.
I try not to feel actual hate over it. I know people get stupid ideas and just believe them, in the absence of better instruction being available in the moment, but...sheesh!
Shouldn't it give one a clue that something isn't good, if the things it recommends arent good?
Oh and for you religious people i have a suggestion.
Your god hasnt sent any locusts or floods or talked to anybody in 2,000 years.
You should have a strike to make him come and show himself.
Oh yes, I'm QUITE serious.
And when he doesnt show up, THEN can we turn the churches into housing for homeless people? Please?
