The story so far...
The vicar rose to answer the cry of "Help! Help!" which was coming from the far end of the churchyard. His hearing was very good. The churchyard wasn't big so he crossed it very quickly. It was raining hard and marks in the wet grass showed a struggle had happened close to the newest grave. Shovels lay on the ground and the vicar nearly tripped and fell across the bloody shovels. "Who bloody left them and who screamed for help?" puzzled the vicar. A voice whispered behind him. It said, "Are they gone?" He turned and saw a small child, soaked to the skin and holding a shiny object. "What...have you done with the.....What have you got there?", stuttered the vicar, recognising the foolishness of his questions immediately. "Child, give me that, carefully!" "I can't, because if I do I will die" the child said. "Nonsense - it is safe. Give it to me." "They said I must always keep my hands on this."
