I understand that Brown is now to bestow an honorary knighthood on that grand dame of American Royalty, Senator Ted Kennedy. Yes, THAT Kennedy. The one who has sided openly with, and actively supported the IRA over the years. The one who left a young girl to drown like a trapped rat in a car that he drove into a river. A young girl who would have lived had he reported the accident at the time, instead of crawling back to his home, sobering up, and reporting it the next morning!
I cannot think offhand of anyone LESS deserving of such an honour. A cynic might wonder what's in it for Brown............

You're absolutely right, Ben. There are FEW American politicians who I loathe MORE than I do that hypocritical POS Kennedy.
As you say, he's been a cheerleader for the IRA for years and to give him a knighthood is a disgrace.
Anyway, I thought Americans didn't believe in all this honours stuff. Shows what a self-serving hypocrite he is!

Isn't this the idiot who once confronted a British soldier in NI demanding to know "what he was doing there" to which the squadie replied in a thick Irish accent "I was born here, what are YOU doing here..."
Anyway, he's a worthless scumbag. all the people on this forum are more worthy of a Knighthoods than he is.

As will the victims of the IRA terrorists whom Kennedy has been busily raising funds for and supporting over many years. I gave you a K for that one. I remember the night of 9/11, and being frantically online with my American online friends, discussing what was happening and what people were saying. And the one thing that whole, long and horrible night that stuck in my craw was when they were saying 'I can't believe people support terrorism' when their nation's citizens had been funding the IRA for decades. There is a romanticism among the American descendents (ants? sp?) of Irish people. They couldn't take on board the fact that every dollar they dropped in the collecting box 'for the auld country' was blood money. I genuinely believe that it changed after 9/11. I genuinely believe that Americans finally woke up to what exactly it was they were funding in among their Irish songs. But then, I am an optimist . . .

I agree absolutely, Riot. There's no doubt Americans saw the IRA for what it was after 9/11 and Kennedy remained one of the few who refused to condemn them.
Of course I have to add that I don't support the UDA either!
