How can you talk on a mobile when you're driving a manual car? It's illegal here, has been for a decade, although hands free is still OK. I see people with mobiles in their hands driving and talking. I'm assuming they're driving automatics. I don't think you can concentrate on holding a phone to your ear, have a conversation and drive a car at the same time. When I get a call, I pull over to the side of the road. That's the law and it makes perfect sense to me.

Who drives a manual anymore?
I can drive one but won't own one; to much hassle.

You can dress it up all you like, but people who use cell phones while driving are stupid people who should know better. We even have one clown on this board who boasts that he always drives with one hand. Complete idiot. You cannot be in full control of your vehicle if you are using a mobile. End of. Grow up, and realise that you are wrong if you think you can. You have a right to your opinion even if you are wrong. With my headset I am in control of my vehicle and drive accordingly and even when I'm off the phone I drive with one hand only.......have done that over thirty years now Talking on the cell is no different than if I am carrying a passenger and talking to them.....in fact, with a passenger I tend to turn and look at them while talking so the cell is actually safer than someone in your car while driving I did grow up a very long time ago and only have one ticket to my name so I would say I'm a very safe driver but pizz me off and you get the horn and the middle finger If you think you are in proper control of your car while driving with one hand, then you are thoughtless. AND you are a danger to everyone else on the road. You cannot instantly react to a developing danger with only one hand on the wheel. So far you have been lucky. Still, with you free hand, you can always give the finger!!

Ah chef. I like to drive my car. I'm a rev head I'll admit. At the moment a 6 litre fuel injected , you won't be interested. And manual. I'm not the only person on the planet who drives a manual - I drive for pleasure and I still say how can you drive a manual and talk on a mobile?
chef, I'm not the only person who drives a manual. And I'm not the only person who drives a manual and has a mobile. You get lazy driving an automatic. I do. And yeah, it can be a pain changing gears all the time but it's driving.
But I don't drive and talk on a mobile. That's stupid and irresponsible IMO.

driving a manual on being on a phone that is hand held is not a great combination but there is no reason why you couldn't drive with a headset or bluetooth.
Listening to the radio distracts drivers while having a passenger along that the driver is chatting with is distracting and no more so than me talking on a headset while I'm driving......like I said, when the traffic gets gnarly, I am off the phone until things are running smooth again.
I used to drive with two kids in the back seat and that was worse somedays than being on the phone.........

Driving with hand held cell phones is illegal in Germany and costs a stiff fine and a penalty point in your driving record. If you get too many of these points you go back to driving school or your license is suspended or revoked. As far as the cell phone head sets go that chefmate is talking about i honestly don't know what the legal status in Germany is for them. I don't know if my pic presents them properly either. So far in the US only hand held cell phones are illegal in a few states and still tolerating in most states. I know the "walkmans" which plug up both ears are illegal, while driving here, but if one ear is free.. i dunno. The non-hand held cellphones with loudspeakers are 100% legal here.

Here's an improvised head set cell phone! ;D I'll have to inquiry if German law would tolerate this man driving!
