Tuesday I received a stack of bills from Stream Energy. They are back-bills. Why was I back-billed? My meter was tampered with but I had no idea where my meter was. I know where the meters are for my building now.
I first called Stream and asked about my bills that totaled $1,045.48. I asked if I could be put onto a payment plan. They said I have to call the payment hotline and wait until my bill is a day late.
I did some more examinations on the new, revised bills. On the back of the last bill for mid December through mid January I had a tampering fee of $265.62. I called Stream and they said that I have to fill out a New Occupancy form and send that along with my lease agreement. I have been in this apartment for over a year and I've been with Stream for even longer. I filled it out and had the apartment complex fax that and my lease agreement. I hope they got it.
I called ONCOR (they own the wires, poles, and meters. Yup, meters) and they told me that my meter was tampered with and that I have to ask Stream to send me the pictures for proof. I called the Public Utilities Commission of Texas. The guy I talked to said that my meter is my responsibility. I live in an apartment complex.
The original bills had meter readings for previos and current. The first new bill has the previous reading, but EST (for estimated) as the new reading. All of the other bills have EST in the previous and new reading fields. The kilowatts used are totally different and I have no idea what they're basing it on since I didn't use anywhere near 2498 kilowatts during the first full month of service at this apartment.
I feel like I'm being robbed. I contacted one of the local news stations via email. He contacted me back and he wants more information. I hope I can make this thing go away! Ugh!

That's terrible, Beez.
Do you have some kind of regulator (in Britain we've got Ofgas and things like that) that could take up your case?
Or you could contact your Congressman I guess.

The "regulator" is the Public Utilities Commission. I'm talking to one of the local news stations. I hope I hear from them today.
