For some reason that'll never understand a lot of people love this movie and recommend it highly. I found the film irritating at best. I simply can't identify with the types of characters presented in this by my standards "flop film". Only a disgusting criminal brain dead loser would think it'd be neat to spike his friends' drinks with drugs like ecstasy or rohypnol. The director seemed to think filming flabby, obese, hairy nude b*tts would increase his fan support for the film too. I have the creepiest feeling he was right! Well at least the foul mouth lingo and f-word obsession wasn't present in the dialogue or maybe i blocked that out with the defense filters that my mind put up..
I wish my grandmothers and great grandmothers and their generations were still here was still here because they had the right mindset for art and good films.
Of course i was turned off by the novel "Catcher in the Rye" by Salinger as well. Anyone who admits that, like i do, is "anti-intellectual" by PC standards!

I'm not sure what Catcher in the Rye has to do with the rest of your post, but never mind. And I've no idea why not liking it would make you 'anti-intellectual'; it's hardly Thomas Pynchon. And as to what these 'pc standards' you are that would condemn you . . . well, I'm thoroughly baffled by that suggestion. Have you considered you might be just paranoid?

Personally I have no problem with separating fact and fiction. I rarely watch a 'teen' movie and confuse it with a documentary. Being a Lieutenant (pronounced Lieutenant) the PC Brigade I can confirm there is a list of books all people must love, To Kill a Mockingbird and The Great Gatsby are not on it, as they are dreadful.

Dearest Riotgrrl, Salinger's novel "Catcher in the Rye" certainly wasn't as bad as the film "Hangover" was. I found "Catcher in the Rye" depressing because the main character just seemed to let everything slide. I feel the movie "Hangover" was in the same category.

What gets me.......Mike Tyson made a cameo appearance in the first movie The Hangover..........let me see....he went to prison for rape.....DUI's, drug possession, allegations of spousal abuse, oh....and he bit part of a man's ear off.........and they seemed to have no problem with him being in the movie....... Hangover II comes around and supposedly Mel Gibson is offered a cameo and the "stars" in it throw a fit until he is replaced by someone else........Gibson has been arrested on DUI charges.....said racist things (both homophobic and antisemitism).....and been accused of spousal abuse (not proven at this point) What exactly is the standard here?

Plenty of 'movie stars' from the old school indulged in very criminal behaviour, they had big studios to cover it up for them. It's claimed Joan Crawford and John Wayne both ran people over whilst DUI. In more modern times Schwarzenegger has apologised for "offensive" behaviour after being faced with a number of different sexual harassment lawsuits from 1975 to 2000. And what about Polansky who has been making films for decades and admitted child molester. Plus ca change

Hi Sadie, The film as a whole just seemed so sloppy and vulgar. I'll skip Hangover2.
Mike Tyson? I really don't know why he's still a celebrity after his cannibal attack.
Ironically I'm not bothered by Resident Evil horror films so much because we know this is phantasy and we segregrate it innerly as such.
Mel Gibson? I have mixed feelings about him. He really made a sincere and great attempt to recreate Jesus Christ's life in his film"The Passion". He doesn't keep his cool though and let's himself get triggered off and that's just what some people want. He must be having money problems to let his name get involved with the Hangover films.

I agree that many of the old films highlighted the dark side, like in the Alfred Hitchcock films. You pretty much knew what you'd get from the older films. I'm certainly no fan of Polanski or Woody Allen fan for that matter! They were both rather depraved in a pedophiliac sense. I admit to having an weakness for Ed Wood trash films. I think "Plan 9 From Outer Space" is hilarious. I love the older films like "Wizard of Oz" and the films that help me question things like "Gone with the Wind" and "Elmer Gantry".
The tendencies in modern films to just mix up a lot of different elements with vulgarity, foul language and bad examples just turns me off. It's like ordering from a Chinese resturant and getting a sloppy mix of a dozen different types of ethnic meals and the cook just loves to slip some awful garbage in as well that some might not notice.
No I'm not singling out the Chinese here either. I like Chinese food!
