My mom rescued a kitten when walking their big dog. She has the cutest personality. She loves to be held. Her name is Wobbles and she has Cerebellar Hypoplasia. She hasn't been eating much. She's now three months old (we rescued her about and a half ago) and she only weighs 1.82 lbs. We've tried chicken baby food, different kinds of canned kitten food. She'll eat the high calorie paste, but we're only supposed to give her a little bit with each meal. I don't want her to die. Lately she'll meow like she's in pain if you try to pick her up. I want her to be a happy, healthy cat that will want to play. Help!?

Hi Beez, What does the vet advise you to do about wobbles? You should call the vet and ask for advice. I know you said you took her in right? Did they prescribe medication?
I've learned this summer how sweet cats really are. I will pray for wobbles and for you... I'm really sorry that this is happening! A little kitten should be happy, healthy and playful.
All you can do is talk to the vet and see what they suggest!

Mom is going to see if the vet has any other news. She was tested for feline leukemia and FIV and doesn't have either one of those diseases. I'm wondering if she wasn't properly weaned from her mother.

My cat can't eat wet food, he doesn't seem able to tear it. Have you tried wobbles on a complete dry food?

She has an infection, but she's getting better! She's eating more. Yay! I hope she recovers soon!

Beez, I know what it's like to lose a cat you love to illness. I've lost one cat to cancer and the other to poisoning by a mad former neighbour (who also killed off two dogs as well - not ours - because she had an infestation of mice.)
I'm so pleased to hear the cat's getting better. I'd still be very cautious because they can be such fragile things under all their posturing.
I'll pray for her to get better.

Thank you, Lin! Wobbles snuggled with me and mom. She's been going to her food dish all by herself and eating more than just a couple of bites. Yesterday mom and I had to force feed her. This is a nice improvement. I've grown so attached to her.

I'll probably have to say goodbye forever to Wobbles tomorrow. She isn't getting any better.

Beez, I'm so sorry. According to our vet, when they won't eat, it's time to bring them in for a diagnosis. I know it's hard when you try your best. Been there.

I had to look up Cerebellar Hypoplasia and wiki tells me it is a condition where the cerebellum is not completely mature at birth - hence the wobbles, I suppose. Could this also be the cause of poor kitty not eating? I will keep my fingers crossed and hope she can be saved; you all deserve to see her thrive.

It's horrible when you have to have an animal put down.

I'm very sorry. You did all you could, though, and that counts for a lot! Again, my condolences.

I'm so sad, Beez. I know what it's like to lose a loved one. Our pets are like part of the family, aren't they?
I still haven't recovered from the death of my beloved Sandy but I know he's in heaven and I'm sure that Wobbles is too.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love!

Yeah I understand. Animals are special. It's hard to replace them. They always live in your heart.
