This is amazing!
Published on May 23, 2014 Earlier this week 44-year-old John All, a Geology professor at Western Kentucky University, was conducting climate research on Mount Himlung in Nepal when he fell into a 70-foot crevasse. He survived the fall, but suffered a broken arm, six broken ribs, and a dislocated shoulder. Incredibly, after six hours of climbing, he made it out of the icy crevasse on his own strength. He managed to crawl back to his tent (another two hours) where he used his satellite phone to call for a helicopter rescue.
After his rescue, All posted videos of his escape to Facebook and described it as "one of life's hardest moments." It is amazing that he not only survived, but documented his escape with a cell phone video camera.
Hopefully, Anna will forgive him for his use of the F Word under rather difficult circumstances.
He was lucky to have landed on a ledge, rather than falling all the way to the bottom of the crevasse. This video is testimony to man's will to survive. His situation looked very desperate when he landed. Climbing out would have been difficult without the broken arm and ribs. He says he never saw the crevasse. It was covered over with a thin layer of icy snow that broke through when he stepped on it. You can see the hole he created when he fell through.

Welcome, BLC! Yes, it's an amazing story! Thanks. It's amazing what people can do when they have an urgent need. I worked with a guy that fell from the roof of his two story farmhouse. He broke a bunch of bones in his face, his wrists, a couple of ribs and an ankle. He dragged himself about mile up the road to the nearest house, which was his brother's.
