This song always lifts my spirits - and I have no idea why as it isn't my usual sort of tune at all! Enjoy!

Most of the music that really sticks with me is 60s psychedelia or outside of the pop world. Here's two who's 'sides' could not be more different: the one harking back hypnotically to 19th century Louisiana white voodoo, the other the Pakistani Muslim equivalent of 'gospel'. I used to have the LP of 'The Night Tripper'. The opening line that he slurs is "Je suis le Grand Zombie".
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan - I did not know he was the world's most popular male vocalist at his death about ten years ago, hadn't even heard of him then! But then the world is neither 'white' nor Christian.
This is what we should remember when we hear the word Islam. Pure spiritual orgasm!
Part 2 (is livelier!)

Thank you, Gabe. That was great! So . . . I'll raise you one. One of my favorite versions of Miriah by the SmoBros

You've done me a real favour. I've scoured YT trying to find a suitable post as a reply and I've come across this. Someone made a recording which explains the noises at the start but this video is no longer available.
I thought it was gone forever. I still think it's the best acoustic guitar piece of music ever written and performed and I'm so glad to have found it again.
The Smothers Brothers piece was very witty. While on my search for them, which is how I ran across this, they have recorded some other songs from the soundtrack but as far as I can tell they're on disc only.
I'm just stoked I've come across Williams again.

Tonight I'm not in the mood to be serious, especially after my day at work. A mind meld of 2 of my favourite entertainment shows.

This is the song Don McLean was singing when Lori Lieberman saw/heard him and wrote a poem called "Killing Me Softly With His Blues". Her poem became the basis for "Killing Me Softly With His Song", written by Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox.

I was never a "rebel" in my youth. I was brought up in a musical family, and classics were my everyday fare. My taste was therefore heavily influenced, but I DID have a sort of rebellion in that I also enjoyed the jazz world. I was lucky in that my time coincided with some of the "greats, and I goit to see some epic live performances, including Louis Armstrong, Oscar Peterson, Sidney Bechet, Ella, and the divine Sarah Vaughan, among many others.
Pop music never appealed, but as I grew older I found that I could enjoy the "middle of the road" stuff, and that brings me to my attachment. The best MOTR track in the whole wide world is Boston, and "More than a feeling"( IMHO, that is!)

Excellent choice, Ben. One of the greats. This one by ELO isn't too shabby either. "rather a bouncy one" lol

So, I'll add one of my own. A very mixed up woman but she had the greatest voice. A real triple threat - sing, dance, act. I like the soundtrack of the '60 concert in San Fran better but I can't find it on UTube.
So, this will do.

My favourite band. This isn't a great video by any means but it's a live performance with Jools Holland so that's why I've included it.

And I like to mix it up. Here's a treasure from the early 60's.
