Ravello Italy is on the Amalfi Coast above the harbor of Amalfi. It offers a spectacular view.

das, I'm sure this is lovely, but I can't tell much about it because the photo is so large and spread out. Is there anyway you can resize it to make it easier on the eyes? This same thing sometimes happens to me when I send photos in email.

Beth - It sounds like you must have a low resolution computer display. Computer displays have been increasing a lot since the switchover to thin solid state (LCD and LED) displays. My current display is 1920 x 1200 pixels. This is a lot of screen real estate. I once had a CRT monitor with only about 800 x 400 pixel resolution. That would have given me the problem you are describing. Here is a low resolution photo taken from a spot nearby the other photo in Ravello Italy. the city in the distance to the left of the photo is Salerno Italy.

I'm sure you're right, das, hadn't even thought of that. I'm using a different computer - one we keep for my MIL to use when she visits, and, moreover, a different browser. The new pic is fine. Thank you sweetly. Ottawa, Canada - in the province of Ontario Canada's capital city

The Alhambra in Granada Spain was headquarters for the ruling Muslims or Moors as they were called. The Moors ruled southern Spain for 700 years. They were finally evicted from the Alhambra, and from Spain, in the year 1492. The same year that Columbus discovered America. Seems hard to believe that the Muslims enjoyed this advanced level of civilization at a time when North America was populated only by native Indians. Europe had a big head start on America where civilization is concerned.

I've been there, it was beautiful. From the great pictures here I want to go to Riomaggiore now. Antrim ( County in Ulster, Northern Ireland) ...just because it contains the Giant's Causeway and because your remark about the Alhambra made me think how hard it is to believe that Nature made this and not a modern sculptor: ~Trubble.

I've been to the Giant's Causeway too! One of the beautiful sights in Northern Ireland! It's a good place to go to forget that stupid Orange vs Green conflict up there!

OK it has to be the last letter right?
La Perouse. Beautiful harbour views, named after one of the few French explorers to make it this far. Can you name the city?

I'll go with Edinburgh, Scotland where my older daughter spent 4 months during her sophomore year in college and enjoyed it enormously.

Some of us just started posting a pic or a link or info about the place because it's fun and makes it more interesting. Don't feel you have to.

I'm going to beg forgiveness and cheat with this one. I'll extract the "a" from Hamburg and promise not to make a habit of it. I want to share this before it gets lost in the shuffle. (bonus: 2 great Moira Kerr songs) Just at the first, see the weather front moving in beneath the dark clouds. There are a couple of spots you may wish you'd taken a motion sickness pill. That's a great video Beth. But it looks like he's driving on the wrong side of the road ;-)
Here's another video featuring Sorrento, Italy on the Amalfi Coast just a short ferry ride from the Isle of Capri. Sorrento is a very lovely town and this video shows it well.
We were staying in Positano and had intended to visit Capri. However, we were delayed enroute and didn't make it in time to catch the morning ferry. We decided to spend the afternoon in Sorrento instead and skip Capri. It was a gorgeous day and we found Sorrento to be loaded with charms. We had lunch there are Restaurant Caruso which our best meal of that entire trip. Very pleasant memories of Sorrento.

Thanks, das Enjoyed it. I hear Capri is somewhat over-rated so you probably made the best choice. p.s. First time I watched the previous video, I though he was driving in the middle of the road which seemed rather risky.
