Hitler never would have come to power if he wasn't financed from certain dubious foreign sources-many in the US..The Warburg bankers for instance! www.amazon.com/Hitlers-Secret-Backers-Sidney-Warburg/dp/0960035869The Russian Revolution was financed by New York bankers with 17 million dollars in gold, which was entrusted to Leon Trotsky. With the consent of the German Kaiser's secret police chief Lenin, Trotsky and the gold were allowed to travel through Germany via a train into Russia to start the revolution! If such financial intrigues were blocked by a US policy of isolationism than a lot of bloodshed would have been avoided! (and one of those bankers financing Hitler might have been named Bush, eh?) Good points, Anna. We did quite a bit of meddling during the 20th century. We aren't the only ones, but, still . . . Hindsight is a wonderous thing. Saddam Hussein had the support of a lot of dubious financial backers too! He was tricked into invading Kuwait by promises from the US falsely claiming there would be no US retaliation. Saddam was very useful in preventing the Arab world from uniting and was supported for this reason in part! Saddam was helped in the Iran war to maximize the bloodshed that followed.. Saddam resented being tricked into invading Kuwait later with false assurances that the US would not opose this. He stopped doing the bidding of the real rulers in the world and so the 2nd Iraq war eliminated him.

I have just finished reading a very interesting, and well researched book on the Bush years. It is entitled "House of Bush. House of Saud", and it charts the connections between the two dynasties;their underhand dealings and manoeuverings, and as usual, it is all about oil, and money...lots of it. How the Saudis targeted anyone in the running for power in the USA, and especially anyone with a chance of the White House. How they bankrolled Dubya and his failed oil exploration company, and how it all paid off. We don't know the half of it. I second this observation. An excellent read. There are two recomended books on Iraq that are also quite informative: Fiasco and Assassin's Gate.
