This week's quiz!...
1 What was your favorite toy, as a kid?
2 What is your favorite toy now?
3 Tell us something completely random about yourself.
4 Have you ever ended up paying to work at a job, instead of getting payed?
5 What was your first kiss like? Was it awkward? Was it nice? What led to it? Tell us your story!
MY ANSWERS 1 What was your favorite toy, as a kid?Well, we were very poor. My brother likes to say that if he hadn't been born a boy, he wouldn't have had anything to play with at all. Me, I had the most fun throwing things at cars then running. Erm, I mean helping old ladies across...no wait, it was throwing things. hmmm *hides* 2 What is your favorite toy now? *bzzzzzz* what? Oh, sorry, doorbell rang. Yea, um, it's three things really: my computer, my home theatre, and the collection of coffee-making machines I have taking up most of the kitchen. ...There was a whole decade when I would have said "my guitar". ...I'm hoping to play with Photoshop and my new pen tablet now, to draw comic strips (storyboard comedy sketches) 3 Tell us something completely random about yourself.I wrote 400 songs, and 2 years of a comedy show, and a couple book ideas here and there too. I'm talented, but I try not to let anyone know. So far I've succeeded completely at keeping it a secret, which would explain why I work at Wal-Mart. (ok, no I don't actually work at Wal-Mart) ;D 4 Have you ever ended up paying to work at a job, instead of getting payed?Yes. I delivered mail (ok ok yes in the "rain sleet or snow", mm )..but they had a screwball way of calculating things so I ended up paying for the gas and vehicle. It was only a 5 hour a week job, so I was paying them 12 dollars a week to do it for them!! (They said there was nothing they could do to solve this, but were glad to have me onboard.) 5 What was your first kiss like? Was it awkward? Was it nice? What led to it? Tell us your story!Oh, we were family camping, and it was a dare, and it was nice actually.

1 My favourite toy - my train set. I spent many happy hours playing with the rolling stock, points, signals, stations and sending my trains around the track.
2 My favourite toy now? Lord, I have no idea how to answer that question! I suppose - if you regard it as a toy - my chess set. I love playing chess and am pretty good at it.
3 Something completely random about myself - hm, almost everything about me is random! I have written about half a dozen songs (none of them much good), a couple of hundred poems (better than my songs) and have been working for the last twenty years on my philosophical magnum opus designed to explain all the mysteries of the universe! So far I have thousands of pages of notes and about fifty pages of actually finished writing!
4 Have I ever ended up paying to work at a job? - No, and I have no intention of allowing that to happen. I did do some voluntary work in my younger days but that is different; I didn't expect to be paid and I wanted to help the homeless people that I was working with.
5 What was your first kiss like? Was it awkward? Was it nice? What led to it? Tell us your story!
My first kiss was deeply embarrassing. In fact the whole of that first date was a disaster. My sister Charlotte had arranged for me to go on a blind date and I was incredibly shy (yes, absurd, isn't it?) and when I met the girl at the cinema we sat together in the stalls and I was so nervous that when I tried to put my arm around her I accidentally punched her in the face. Later (she was very good about it) I tried to kiss her and banged heads! (Still not enough to knock any kind of sense into me!)
Then when we parted I found I had lost my wallet and had to borrow money from her to get home on the train!
Needless to say I did NOT contact her again - I would say that was a disastrously embarrassing experience.
(Fortunately I persisted with the ladies and learned how to kiss PROPERLY!)

1 What was your favorite toy, as a kid?Hard to choose. You spend a decade being a kid, many toys are favourites! Space hopper, Sindy (the time my sister and I spent on those games, they'd go on for days!), my Scooter (and then bike), my football... The ubiquitous Teddy was called Basil and even now I would feel it was a betrayal to name any other toy as a favourite as he was definitely the most loved (and loving. He was a hero of a bear!). 2 What is your favorite toy now?A camera (and computer). I love playing photographer, and it is just playing because I have never been any good at it, but digital cameras mean anyone can have a go, and I am on a small board where we have a weekly challenge, a monthly theme, and a whole variety of categories where we have somewhere to share our photos and view other people's photos. It's my favourite part of the internet. (If anyone here likes playing with a camera and wants to join up, you are welcome to; please PM me ).3 Tell us something completely random about yourself.I once found a dead man floating in the sea. 4 Have you ever ended up paying to work at a job, instead of getting payed?Yes! ;D I had a go at acting at one stage and it's very easy to not get money in that job! We put on a show one time that actually made money and got so over excited about it that we went on tour and promptly lost it all again. In the end we all agreed that we had broken even but I think we were kidding ourselves. 5 What was your first kiss like? Was it awkward? Was it nice? What led to it? Tell us your story! There are two types of first kisses. One when you are a little kid and one when you are a teen. They were both absolutely lovely and romantic and sweet. You just couldn't get more romantic and perfect! And thus everything since has been a let down. ;D ;D

2. Taffy. She invented the first writing and letters, after all. & I think, best beloved, that they are in the order they are in because when Taffy got back to the cave and she & her Daddy tried to remember the long list, she recalled them just so. See here for Rudyard Kipling's telling of her story: boop.org/jan/justso/alpha.htm

1 If you were God for a day, what would you do?
Gosh....so what you do only lasts for a day? You can't say end sickness or war......because it's only for the day..........wow.....I'll have to think on that one.....
2 Who decided what order to put the alphabet in? I have no idea but I want to know who came up with that idiotic "a before e, except after c...." crap.......I have a couple of things to say to them.
3 As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? And what do you do for work now? I wanted to be a lawyer.........I now work for our family business and coordinate our product research
4 If you had a chance to bring one person back from the dead, who would it be and why?
Benazir Bhutto..........I believe she could have made a difference. She believed that whatever changes were needed in Islam would have to come from within Islam, not Christians or Jews telling Muslims what to do.
5 Why does your toast always land butter side down?
Because you would still eat it if it didn't.

1 If you were God for a day, what would you do? I'd make people unable to be mean.
2 Who decided what order to put the alphabet in? It depends whose alphabet.
3 As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? And what do you do for work now? I wanted to own a business, be a scientist and a musician. I have dabbled in those pursuits, certainly was a musician for ten years. Now I write.
4 If you had a chance to bring one person back from the dead, who would it be and why? Robert Kennedy. Because he was poised to be the best president we ever had.
5 Why does toast always land butter side down? Because otherwise, how would it stick to the dog?

What is your quirkiest habit, and why do you do that?
Oh come on. I post on here. Is there anything quirkier?
2 Was there a period in your life when you considered barefoot a valid choice of footwear?
Absolutely not. My feet are always cold
3 What's your favorite quote?
I Googled to find a quote to the effect that the most neglected duty was the duty to be happy. I thought is was from Robert Louis Stevenson but instead found this, which I like:
Every man has a sane spot somewhere.
4 If you had a chance to bring one person back from the dead, who would it be and why?
My dad.
5 Why does toast always land butter side down?
It is the revenge of the loaf. First it is kneeded, then it is baked, then someone heats it to a crisp, smears it with grease then threatens to masticate and digest it. Toast deserves a peaceful end in the rubbish bin.

Another quirky habit is pasting from the wrong post.
I'll leave that as it was and answer the final two from today's quiz
4 Do you collect anything? What?
No - I'm desperately trying to de-clutter
5 If you are in your yard, what are you most likely to be doing?
I'm British - we have gardens. I'm most likely to be playing ball with the dog, having gone out to do something far more useful

1 What is your quirkiest habit, and why do you do that? Oh wow....narrow it down to one?? Well....I seem to have an obsession about buying toothpaste. I just seem to panic and think I'm going to run out...and then I get home and there are 15 tubes or more of it.......
2 Was there a period in your life when you considered barefoot a valid choice of footwear? Since I was a child and I still believe it should be a valid life choice........even though I do love shoes.......(that's kind of odd, isn't it?)
3 What's your favorite quote? Does your dog bite? (said like Peter Sellers as Clouseau)
4 Do you collect anything? What? Flamingoes........stems from an old joke.....and suddenly everyone started giving me flamingoes.....fought it for awhile....after twenty years I have given in and actually seek them out.
5 If you are in your yard or garden, what are you most likely to be doing? Pulling weeds

1 What is your quirkiest habit, and why do you do that?
I never take the item in front, when shopping. I call that "the display model".
2 Was there a period in your life when you considered barefoot a valid choice of footwear?
Yea, I was 18, and I seemed to think it was cool.
3 What's your favorite quote?
There is a tide in the affairs of men which -taken at the flood- leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such a full sea are we now afloat and we must take the current when it serves or lose our ventures. -Shakespeare (from Julius Ceaser)
4 Do you collect anything? What?
I did collect movies, music, books, clothes...but now I'm not so determined to own "one of everything"! lol
5 If you are in your yard or garden, what are you most likely to be doing?
Playing croquet (it's a pathetic substitute for golf)

1 Open the nearest book to page 47. What's the first sentence? These are easy to make from ingredients most of us usually have to hand, and are satisfyingly chewy. (The Home Cookbook - Monty & Sarah Don) 2 Do you say something when someone has more than 20 items?Only with my passive-aggressive eyes. 3 Name three uses for fifty golf balls, other than to play golf.- Sew onto the back and front and side of pyjamas to prevent snoring - and sleep.
- Spray red, silver, and gold, and hang them on a tree in your garden for Christmas.
- Start a windscreen-replacement company - emergency call outs a speciality. Stake out a golf course car park and covertly smash windscreens, placing a golf ball neatly in the driver's seat. Emergency rates also a speciality.
4 How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are? With that sort of dodgy memory, probably somewhere in my nineties. 5 If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?Because we are all turning into our mothers.

I think this is more of an issue for the ladies. I only own four pairs of shoes.
Too many shoes? I think so, yes.
(But then I'm not certain the ladies would agree with me!)
Put off paying a bill because of overspending on shoes? No, but I have sometimes put it off for other expenses!
A picture of my favourite pair of shoes? Oh dear, I had better go and clean them first!
